Some info about me/ Interests:

Uhh, I am a sort of shy person, but when I feel comfortable with you I open up for the most part. I graduated college last summer with a degree in film, so I can talk with you about that some… I am more of a music and book person though, for the most part. I like YA (Bardugo, Stiefvater, Jenny Han, that one person who wrote the If I Stay books), classics to some extent, and Donna Tartt. I listen to a lot of music, but right now I am back in my 2013-2015 phase of when I liked k-pop (BTOB, Sistar, BAP, Vixx, Ailee, mostly the older stuff), so don’t judge me for that. I listen to alternative, rock, pop – basically whatever my siblings and parents put on the radio when I was growing up, haha. I like Webtoons (Lore Olympus, Age Matters, Let’s Play, I Love Yoo, and True Beauty, to name a few)! Don’t get me started on the cuteness of Baby Yoda because I’ll just gush. I am much so of the escapism life, hence the reading and what not. I like to write, one day I hope to write a book or two. Who knows.  I am currently going through bartending school, because what else am I going to do with my life, lol. I’m also learning Korean (not very well lol) because one of my friends travels there often and we thought it could be our secret code language. I travel a lot, but right now I live in Nevada with my sister, I grew up in Kansas, and I spent most of my college years traveling between Wisconsin and Illinois. I’m a clingy person when it comes to friends because I have like two. Sometimes I am slow to respond, but that’s because of the lack of energy. I nap a lot. I love animals. I like baking and cooking. I am friendly for the most part and I’m the mom of the group?

CNN; Cable News Network is ‘television’s first 24-hour all-news service’ (Erickson 2020) ‘created by maverick broadcasting executive Ted Turner’ (abid) in June 1980. The beginning of the first broadcast can be seen below;

‘CNN is the worldwide leader in news and information delivery online’ (CNN Worldwide Staff 2020) and is a network channel who stream 24 hour news across America and have branched out to the rest of the world.

CNN are known for ‘going where the audience is’ (NewsWhip 2016) and being available and active on ‘whatever platforms audiences are engaging’ (NewsWhip 2016) on. ‘Nearly six and a half million Twitter users around the globe depend on @CNNbrk to learn the facts quickly, along with links to images or videos to accurately report what is happening around the world’ (CNN Worldwide Staff 2020). ‘On Facebook it is the same with almost four million users interacting and engaging with CNN on Facebook’ (abid).

As well as Television their major platforms of CNN and CNN International are across platforms such as ‘Facebook and Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram and messaging apps. That team is responsible for what we push out, and spans New York, Atlanta, Hong Kong and London. So [they are] 24/7 global social publishing’ (NewsWhip 2016).

Modern ‘People consume news channels in a very different way. They only want it for 10 or 15 minutes. They want their fix of what's going on, to check the world hasn't ended, and they [switch over] to something else’ (The Observer 2005) The CNN network understands the importance of having ‘different types of audiences and different generations using different types of storytelling’ (Fipp 2017). This can be done over different platforms such as social media and applications, in order to do this successfully they need to know their audience.

‘Primarily their audience consists of ‘college-educated woman between the ages of 25 and 54, who tends to lean to the political left—but prefers her news to be neutral’ (Hashmi et al 2012 p.2) while also being being and “on the go” and not having much time to sit and the news on the television, consequence of this the audience are more likely to receive ‘most of her news online or through her smartphone’ (abid).

‘CNN is expanding its international presence’ (BtoB 2005) by adding a channel in India which ‘will extend CNN's existing footprint in India well beyond the 10 million homes the network currently reaches via CNN International (CNNI)’ (Abid) which will be consistent in telling audiences what to think about (Groshek 2008).

Currently ‘CNN International broadcasts to 23 countries, reaching 150 million households worldwide’ (The Observer 2005) yet to widen their broadcast reach they will need to do more than broadcast. As well as expanding its network it has been noted that ‘CNN needs to cultivate its audience and presence on Twitter. Twitter has become an integral part of global news communication. Younger audience is already switching to Twitter from blogosphere’ (Hashmi et al 2012 p.17). Expanding its social media presence as well as its footprint will not only widen where the audience comes from but the age ranges in which the network currently covers, expanding its range to younger more technologically savvy audiences.

We create, direct, and edit all types of visual work as well as curate artists stemming fro a wide array of musical backgrounds and influences. Based in Seoul, our primary focus is to engage viewers by producing a unique and dynamic experience of both visual and audio output”.

He was born on September 6th, 1990.

He was born in Sydney, Australia.

He is a singer, producer, director and chief editor in DPR.

COMEBACK PLAN FOR MELODIES

Hello, melodies! We all know that BtoB is making a comeback on this monday (16 October) with a ballad written, composed and produced by our Hyunsik! With this comeback, everybody is welcomed to help. 

Since not every melody can afford buying Melon / Genie / Naver streaming passes, we’ve decided to share some efficient tips in which everybody can help! All of them are under the cut.

STREAMING

As it is already known, views on their official MV count on every single show they’re promoting. Some helpful tips are:

Log out from your YouTube account. I don’t think I have to explain anything here. Repeatedly seeing the same video while being logged in your account doesn’t help at all with views.

Use incognito mode. If you cannot, don’t forget to clear your history, cookies and cache often. You can search online how to do this if you’re not familiar with it.

Do not use the replay button. Always keep searching for the song in the search bar. 

STREAMING THE MV ON BTOB’S OFFICIAL YOUTUBE CHANNEL COUTNS MORE THAN STREAMING THE MV ON 1THEK’S CHANNEL.

Always, always stream in HD (720p or above).

You can use as many devices as you have. If you don’t have many in your house, send the link to your parents, friends etc. You can even go to an electronic shop and play it on phones / laptops there. 

Make sure the volume is over 50% or that your device is not silenced. 

DO NOT skip ads, fast forward or skip parts. Watch THE WHOLE video until the end. 

If views increase too fast, YouTube will freeze them. After they’re done with filling the views through the spam, the views will go up. Streaming correctly is important! 

Have fun! Write comments, introduce BtoB to new melodies! Write your own thoughts and don’t forget to be respectful of everybody. 

PROMOTING

If the situation doesn’t allow you to stream, worry not! The best thing you can do is spread the word about BtoB and their new song. You can do it on Twitter, Tumblr, Facebok, Instagram, literally wherever you feel like doing it. 

One thing I did (I don’t recommend you being this bad lol) is that I’ve written that they’re making a comeback in every single bathroom in my high school. The fact that somebody saw this and actually posted a pic on their Snapchat means that at least one person got informed by this and maybe many more wondered who the fuck is BtoB. 

Talk about them to friends, to family (believe me, they will like them), to random kpop fans. Spread the word! Spread the word that they’re going to have a comeback. Talk about how talented they are. Talk about how hardworking they are. Talk about how Hyunsik actually deserves a trophy and that they’re the only one who can help BtoB. 

BUYING

I know not all melodies can afford buying the album. However, if you can afford buying it and you want to do so, make sure you check that the buyer / site is certified and from wherever they get the album actually counts for their sales. If you are opting for a group order, this piece of information is still available. 

First week sales are very important for the artist so make sure you pre-order your album!

If you don’t want to have a physical copy, buying it from Apple Music or Google Play counts as well. 

STREAMING WITH A PASS

If you do have a Melon / Genie or Naver streaming pass and you don’t know how to stream, worry not once again.

Backstory of how you got into Kpop? In 2015 a friend who’s into kpop kept talking about it with me but I was like “meh no thanks” but then she introduced me to Running Man & I found it hilarious. Some Reasons why I love Peniel’s VLOGS:

Let’s start from the very basic: 

1, The editing is dope!  

 And by that, I mean really, really good. Most of his shots and the quality of contents are above average!  I usually feel bored easily when watching vlog, but Peniel’s camera point of view is so beautiful as he showed the view in between places, from train, car, (also time lapse and stuffs) and.. yeah it also makes me even more excited to visit Japan again, someday. (hiks). And, remembering his profession as an active singer slash celebrity with packed schedule. I really admire Peniel’s commitment in shooting, editing and everything. 

2. The very simple titles given:

Well done! 1st! My worst enemy! or.. Tokyo! Udon! New Camera!

I love the very simple title, some are only consisted of one or two words. And the title given even makes me feel more curious to see the content compare to other Vlogs with such long title like here, here, and here. I guess he is the kind of like really easy going man so he just name the video what ever is on his head at that time, and (again) it’s kinda cute for me, lol

3. No cliche opening, ending, like, subscribe or anything.

Everytime I watch a youtubers or vlogs, I will always skip the last few second since it will be the same all over again. Please like, subscribe, blah blah blah, which is very cliche and… boring. And Peniel doesn’t do that! (teehee)

4. He speaks in English (almost all the time)! so I can do something else while watching his video. Like revising. Tried this before and it’s kinda work for me. Fun!

5. The content shows fans his daily activities and what are behind the scene of his profession. Like MV making, how long he’s waiting. Dry rehearsal, camera rehearsal, make up, change clothes, so on and so forth. Like it is kinda interesting to know about this stuffs directly from an idol perspective! (especially for international fans)

6. The background songs! it is usually one song per video which is good because it’s simple. But,,, what I like even more is, the songs are so good as well! Peniel rarely ever pick other artist’s song, so either it was BTOB’s songs, or his mixtape songs, which are very original! Represents his mood, preference, and profession, and make the audience feel even closer to his vlogs.

7. You can see BTOB members appeared randomly here and there in some of the videos. Either only their voice, in the background, or they’re singing, sleeping, sometimes giving random jokes; which is… super fun! Mostly those members will pop out speaking in little random english as well, bcs Peniel is speaking in fluent english, so again, yea that’s cute to see!

8. His english is pretty cute!

Like in my opinion (from what I heard), Peniel has a lisp right? and his english is nearly perfect as well (no grammar mistake whatsoever) which makes it become very pleasant to hear.

9. Bringing camera to every where. Rather than snapchat-ting or Insta Story-ing, why not youtubeing?

Yea at the first few videos my reaction was like… oh well why does he have to carry a camera or go pro to almost everywhere? Like it’s not really the culture for Korean or Japanese people bringing Gopro with the stabiliser at public space. But.. when I think about it again, Well other artists like Jessi and Tiffany (only two that I know) very often be seen  holding their phones for snapchatting as well during events. So, rather than filming for something that will only last for 24 hours, why not making it available for days, months, or even years? Yea Peniel’s idea is at a different level obviously saying.

10. He has manner, guys

Peniel doesn’t just record everywhere anytime out of nowhere. He often whispered, or typed, in order just not to bother other passengers or people around him. I think if he really wants to, he can just ignore those kind of situations, shoot in more places to create more fun contents. But, he will not shoot where he is not supposed to, to show respect towards other’s people privacy, then just say sorry to the audience (even when he doesn’t have to) and told us afterwards what was happening instead.

11. Last but not least, his effort in providing Korean subtitles!

I thought Peniel just has to edit videos and upload it directly so I didn’t get it at first when he mentioned about “I gotta do subtitle and stuff..”. And then… because he mention it very often (or I’ve just watched too many of his videos), just reckon that he has to translate ALL what he said (in English) into Korean to treat Korean fans/watchers.Well, job of editing and everything isn’t little already. And I can imagine, translating isn’t an easy (or fun) deal too.

But then, that’s probably why fans love his videos with all of the efforts given SO MUCH, and I hope he knows how so many people enjoy his videos and vlogging activities. And of course, including for me, I enjoy it very very much. Thank you Peniel! haaha..
